This painting is about a story in the Hindu mythology. Vishwamitra was a great and powerful saint. He was once annoyed by Devendra, the king of gods. So Vishwamitra set out to form his prati srishti (Second universe). Devendra did not want this to happen. So he sent Menaka the fairy to distract Vishwamitra from his task. Needless to say, she attracted him with her feminine charm and sensuousness and Devendra's plan was successful.
