William Wallace was a great warrior and a hero of Scotland. He fought the massive English armies in order
to gain freedom from the English. In the end, thanks to the sabotures in his own ranks, he was captured and
killed by the English.
Sterling is the place where Wallace defeated the big English army even after being outnumbered and with
considerably less armoury and skilled men than English army. His memorial is erected in this place.
The great holleywood movie BraveHeart, starring Mel Gibson, is based on the life and times of William Wallace.
