Trummelbach Falls

Trummelbach Falls are one of the major tourist attractions in Lauterbrunnen. One can reach them by bus or even on foot. We preferred the second way.

The way to the falls is complete with lush greenery and beautiful scenery all the way. Though the distance from village to the falls can be easily covered in half hour, it took us more than twice that time to reach there, because one tends to get so relaxed in that scenery, it becomes very hard to make haste!! There was no way we could miss the road. Because hordes of tourists from all countries were flocking to the falls.

We reached the falls and for a while could not see the falls anywhere!! And then we got a really big shock. These falls are completely inside a mountain! They run thru the belly of the mountain and emerge out at the bottom with a bang. The force of the water is so big, that merely looking at it tenses one's mind. It emits more than 20,000 litres of water per second.

The swiss engineers have constructed roads winding around the fall. We followed the road to the top. On this road we had a great view of the falls from all the sides. After spending a hour or two there, we started on the way back. It was very cloudy and it looked as though rain would start any minute. We went back to our hotel and had a small nap.
